Changed traffic conditions across Lake Mac, Newcastle, Port Stephens LGAs

SHARE

There will be noticeable changes to traffic conditions throughout the Hunter next week as maintenance work is carried out on local roads.

Transport for NSW crews are scheduled to hit the streets in the Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and Port Stephens LGAs (local government areas) from Sunday 2 September.

The personnel will undertake shot-blasting on the road surface at 19 separate sites, which is designed to increase friction during wet weather and ensure the ongoing safety of motorists.

“To minimise the impact, work will take place between 7pm and 4.30am on one to two locales per night,” a spokesperson said.

“Overall, it’s expected to be completed by Saturday 16 September.

“Sites with one lane in each direction will have single lane, alternating traffic flow arrangements, portal traffic lights and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h in place.

“Those with two lanes in each direction will have single lane closures, as well as portal traffic lights and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h.

“Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time.”
