Fun-filled Knockers and Moles returns to fundraising calendar

SHARE

Due to its success in 2022, the extremely popular Knockers and Moles extravaganza is back on the calendar this month.

Presented by Newcastle’s own spectacular First Nations drag queen Timberlina, the event – to take place at the Cabaret at Warners Bay Theatre on Friday 25 August from 7.30pm – will raise funds for two important local organisations, Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation (HBCF) and Hunter Melanoma Foundation (HMF).

The former provides information and assistance for women and men diagnosed with, or being treated for, breast cancer in the region, and their families, while the latter’s goal is to prevent and support the cure of melanoma through education, awareness, research and treatment.

Both the HBCF and HMF rely heavily on donations, grants and fundraising activities to enable the charities to fulfil their objectives.

HBCF general manager Abbey McDonnell said Knockers and Moles was an event not to be missed.

“We’re very excited to be joining forces with HMF again for a third consecutive year,” she stated.

“The function offers the community more than a fun night out.

“It’s an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the region’s most prominent cancers.

“Each year Knockers and Moles goes from strength-to-strength.

“And, so far, a combined total of more than $56,000 has gone to both foundations.”

HMF executive officer Claudia Tolhurst echoed those sentiments.

“Communities are strongest when they work together,” she added.

“The current cost of living is having an impact on everyone, including local charities who rely on the generosity of residents.

“By uniting as a joint event, we can combine our efforts, raise money along the way and inform people what HBCF and HMF do within the local community.

“It’s a prime example of coming together to help those around us.”
