MasterChef alumni Hayden Quinn, Reece Hignell and Brendan Pang are expected to serve up a culinary treat in Maitland next week.

The trio will converge on the Gillieston Heights Community Hub, on Thursday 29 June, for an evening of engaging conversation, cooking demonstrations and tastings.

It all takes place from 5pm.

And, due to the famed cooking sensations’ popularity, tickets are set to sell “like hot cakes”.

“We’re plating up a night of kitchen inspiration, entertainment and mouthwatering flavours,” Maitland City mayor Phillip Penfold said.

“Whether you’re a seasoned home cook or simply passionate about the culinary arts, this is an event you won’t want to miss.”

Perth-based Pang, known for his Chinese-Mauritian food, admitted he first learned to make wontons at nine years of age.

Since then, his food journey has been a non-stop crescendo.

The highlight of the evening will be the official launch of his newest book, This Is A Book About Noodles.

Pang said he was “incredibly excited and humbled” to unveil the offering in the Hunter.

“It’ll be great to be back in Maitland to promote all things baking, dumplings and books,” he stated.

Joining Pang is the exceptionally-talented Hignell, whose heirloom family desserts have inspired his old fashioned bakery, Cakeboi, and a fun, personality-driven cookbook by the same name.

Foodie, surfer, writer, marine biologist, celebrated television presenter and chef Quinn will present and emcee the proceedings.

Tickets to the event are limited and cost $20.

The price includes a free beverage and the opportunity to taste some of the tantalising creations each chef prepares.

Attendees will also be able to purchase signed copies of the authors’ works, have a chat and take a selfie.

Cr Penfold praised the value of this unique event.

“From our coffee and café scene to the fresh, locally-grown produce sold up and down Maitland, our city and community have an appreciation for the art of cooking,” he said.

“This evening is a great opportunity for eager home chefs to meet their cooking inspirations and broaden their culinary knowledge.”
